Happy New Year!

Once again, it's the start of another year and comes with it, so many new resolutions which oftentimes, have no follow through. I sound like a party pooper. hahaha!

This year, I will keept my resolutions downright simple. But no matter how simple it looks like, I have a nagging feeling that I may not fulfill any. Being a pessimist is not a good way to start the year!

Anyhow, here are my "simple" 2011 resolutions:

1. Live a healthy lifestyle. Cut back on the chips and all things oily. Right about now, chicharon sounds good. lol.
2. Do yoga. I've already inquired and I even bought expensive yoga pants just so I will be forced to actually join a group. When I inquired, I already said that I can only attend once or twice a week (I know my limitations), and they gave a program suited to my needs. There really is no obstacle, so I have no reason not to go...
3. Stop buying items for the house. Really. We have no maid and still no yaya up to now. Over the holidays, I did most of the cleaning, and that's when it hit me that I (and the husband) are packrats and we buy way too much accessories for the house. Like I bought two pairs of candle holders. I only needed 1 actually, but I now have 4. We have way too many dinner plates, glasses, wine glasses but we don't eat at home that often. See my problem? Shopping for clothes and shoes is not included. Just making that clear. hee hee.. If I don't buy too many things, I don't have to declutter too often.

Easy enough to keep? I hope so. So help me God.

A Whole Lot of Goodness

On a recent trip to the mall, I had to make a stop at Healthy Options to stock up on some of my staples. Aside from those on my list, I ended up buying these.

The little girl is fond of lollipops, so instead of giving her those sugar laden treats, this alternative is made from organic fruits and with real Vit. C. And they are yummy too (I tried out 1 lolli). I also got her those cereal bars to snack on in school. Her preschool discourages junk food and sugar coated snacks, which I am guilty of giving her from time to time.

Since I have a scratchy and itchy throat, I decided to buy this tea. But for it to be effective, it is suggested that it be drank 3x/day. It's going to come out expensive and I don't quite like the taste. I'm a tea drinker but I'm not fond of chamomile and this tea comes close to chamomile in taste. And who said Vit C is just for colds and cough? I've read a lot of positive reviews on facial moisturizers with Vit C. So this I've got to C (lol).

Vegetable Juice

Over the weekend I tried out freshly juiced fruit and vegetable shakes. I don't normally like the taste of vegetable juice, but I "bravely" bought a large cup. I felt "healthy" just drinking that juice! It had romaine lettuce, ginger, bananas and pineapple. It was fibrous, but overall, the taste was good.

This morning, I've been searching the internet for some recipes so I can prepare some at home, especially over the Lenten holidays. Time to cut down on the soda and recharge with some home made (and preferably organic) juice. While some veggies that are used in many recipes seem unappetizing to me (think red beets, parsley, radish), there are still so many vegetables that can be mixed with fruit to come up with a yummy shake. I plan to make a shake with romaine lettuce, carrots, cucumber, celery and ginger. Of course, not all those veggies in 1 shake.

I'm still looking for recipes and I'll try to experiment this week. If I'm able to successfully make a yummy shake, it will be posted here for sure.
