A couple of weekends ago, an elderly relative passed on her ensaimada recipe, along with her baking tools to me. When I was a kid, she was always busy in the kitchen baking and cooking. And her ensaimadas were a staple at home.
I have a long way to go before I master baking this pastry, although it is relatively simple to do.
And the finished product -
The oven went haywire so we used a small electric oven and that's why some parts of the ensaimada are slightly toasted.
